Try Somthing New, For a Change.
Try Something New, for a Change So last week I talked about the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doing a study and found that few people are eating their recommended 9 fruits and vegetables a day. So here we go I guess you can hear the challenge coming. Starting on Monday eat nine fruits and veggies a day and then next week Sunday report your findings. Tell me is you went to the potty more; if you ate less junk; did you have more energy; how it effected your mood.
Now if you are going to do the challenge then here are few tips I recommend: 1) Try blending an 8 or 12 ounce fruit smoothie, 1 ½ cup strawberries, 1 cup blue berries, 1 small banana, with a one kiwi. Drink this when you get up in the morning. So now you have gotten your day off with some color; red, deep purple, yellow, and green. Then around noon get in an apple or pear. For lunch make sure you have a salad with some lean protein. You can get a good tasting one from Micky D’s, the Southwestern Salad, just go lite on the dressing. You can get it with grilled or crispy chicken. Then for dinner you could have some steamed broccoli or asparagus or whatever your desire. Important to remember as you cruise into the evening you want to make sure you have eaten all the fruit in the early part of your day. The reason why? Fruits do have natural sugars, and eating food with natural sugars late at night kind of defeats your goal.
Fruits are a good source of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are generally needed for energy. Towards the evening you are winding down so not as high need for carbohydrates in the evening. So with me saying that eating a lean piece of fish or chicken with a small side salad little dressing is a great choice for the evening meal.
