Do Nothing From Fractional Motives

Published by martikay at 6:23 am under Health & Fitness Edit This

So last Friday Cecil, my husband and I set out to regain our fitness status of fit and healthy. I might have mention last year we spent it overcoming cancer. During my cancer treatment I was fortunate and gained weight. About 40-50 pounds. So one of his ways of supporting me was to gain weight with me (and that was sweet). Now back to the gaining 40-50 pounds. Through my fitness training I have learned muscle and fat cells have memory. That means you body remembers all your stationary weights. In my case a few years before I turned 40 I weighed closed to 200 pounds and carried it for a few years. That might explain while I was going through the stress of cancer I actually gained weight. So I’m suspecting when I allow myself to get into an overloaded stress mode I would have the propensity to gain weight. That is good info to know. Now with everyday life comes everyday stresses. The body is designed to handle stress. A lot has to do with how you handle stress from a mental or emotional level. If you have stress mechanism in place for stressful situations, then you will do fine. But if you handle stress on a reaction basis that could be detrimental to your overall health from a cellular level, such as mine in the former paragraph. Your body is nothing more than some 6 trillion cells forming and functioning daily duties. When your stress level is overloaded it effects your cells and immune system. Your immune system keeps you safe. It it almost like the firewall protection on your computer. When your protection is off, viruses and unwanted pop-ups can flourish.

So getting back to the title, Do Nothing From Fractional Motives. Often I hear clients say I want to lose weight. Losing weight or what I prefer to say losing fat and gaining muscle is not something you do on the way to the grocery store. It is not like dropping off you cleaning and picking it up later. Becoming fit first has to be a decision you make. Then you have to map out how you are going to manage that decision. So a lot of times when clients tell me they have tried everything, a lot a times they have not first made a conscious decision to become fit. Sometimes they are motivated extrinsicly and not intrinsicly. Intrinsic motivation is when you have a vested reason in your outcome. It is not externally motivated.

An external motivation or force would be getting in shape for an event, party, or wedding. Those become external reasons. So when the reason is gone so does the motivation and your back at square one again. When your motivation is for better health, living better and letting the benefits of looking good become the icing on the cake you have better success.

So as you set out to become fit: 1) make that decision to become fit; 2) buy measuring utensils, 3) journal everyday; 4) read labels for serving size; 5) eat small meals frequently throughout your day; 6) complete your last small meal by 8pm; 7) drink plenty of water & eliminate caffeine; 8) turn off the computer and tv and go to sleep, your body needs rest time; 9)exercise, exercise exercise, and last but not least pray and meditate and you are on your way. Remember Do Nothing from Frational Motives, that includes your health.
